Both will be located at 1818 Washington Ave. in Houston next door to B&B Butchers and across the street from B.B. Lemon. Benny Chows will take up residency in a nearly 5,500-square-foot space on the bottom floor and Canopy Social in a 5,200-square-foot space on the third floor. The concepts could open sometime this spring, possibly in April.

Benny Chows will feature upscale Chinese fare with Peking duck, filet mignon beef and broccoli, fried rice, noodles, dumplings, and more. The menu will also offer rotating, seasonally-inspired dishes.

“I wanted to bring an ingredient-driven approach to the American Chinese food I grew up eating in New York City, but with top notch service and a vibrant atmosphere. This is going to be a spot where colleagues and friends can share a meal, or couples can have an ideal date night with exceptional food and cocktails,” said Berg in a Facebook post.

Canopy Social, a British Caribbean-style rooftop bar, will offer specialty cocktails and light bites. The roof can retract providing unforgettable views of the Houston skyline, and light and airy decor such as rattan furniture, greenery, and water features will provide the perfect spot to enjoy company.

“One thing I noticed that Houston is lacking in comparison to my hometown New York City is rooftop bars. When this space was presented to me, I knew we had to open something there and that Houstonians would fall in love with the amazing view of our downtown,” said Berg in a Facebook post.

Other restaurant concepts from Berg Hospitality are expected to open this year—Turner’s Cut and Annabelle in Autry Park, as well as Soy Cowboy, which could open at Loews Arlington Hotel in North Texas in 2024.
