Bonchon, an international chain specializing in Korean fried chicken, is set to open a Webster location in late summer of 2023. And, right next door, a Cold Stone Creamery is in the works, tentatively set to open in mid-September.
Mayank Grover, is one of several managing partners who will operate both locations. Grover told What Now Houston they hope to open Bonchon in suite 700 at 300 West Bay Area Blvd. in Webster by the end of August. This will be their first location for the brand.
“It’s a great market. This is like a whole new concept for the area, so we’re excited about it, especially with the location,” Grover said. They plan to open other Bonchon locations in the future once the Webster spot is up and running.
“This is going to be the first fast-casual Bonchon for the Houston area. There are others, but they’re full dining,” Grover explained. A fast-casual restaurant allows diners to order and pay for their own food with a cashier, while a full-service restaurant provides waitstaff for ordering.
The Bonchon menu features wings, drums, and strips that are hand-battered, double fried, and hand-brushed with Bonchon’s signature sauce. Diners can also enjoy Bulgogi, which is thinly sliced ribeye and vegetables served with white rice or Bibimbap—white rice, quinoa, vegetables, sesame seeds, egg, and sauce.
Cold Stone Creamery will be located in the adjacent suite, #710. Grover said they hope to open the ice cream shop by mid-September. They are in the process of remodeling the space.
Cold Stone Creamery offers a variety of ice cream treats including waffle bowls. You can choose from the Signature Creations or pick your own toppings that are then mixed into the ice cream. Other items include ice cream cakes, ice cream sandwiches and pies, smoothies and shakes, and sorbet.
