James has four children, all college graduates. When visiting their schools, she always found a local Tropical Smoothie Cafe, so she decided to open her own location in Houston. “It was a healthy way for me to eat well on the road while visiting my kids at their respective colleges.”

Tropical Smoothie Cafe offers a wide variety of meal options and smoothies. From wraps and sandwiches to salads and quesadillas, the menu has something for everyone. If diners are looking for a smoothie option, they have a wide array of flavors to try. Smoothies include Super Veggies, Balanced Fusions, Fruit Blends, and Tropical Treats. Supplements can also be added to the smoothies.

James hopes to open two other Tropical Smoothie Cafe locations in Houston, possibly in The Heights and Memorial Park. “I’m hoping to get into those different areas,” James said.

“I’m 22 years military, and so eating healthy has been a really big thing,” James said. She wants to provide those healthy smoothie and meal options to others at Tropical Smoothie Cafe.

James hopes to partner with local gyms to bring in Tropical Smoothie Cafe menu items. She also plans to participate in Tropical Smoothie Cafe’s National Flip Flop Day to give back to the community. “My whole goal is to partner with the community,” James said.
