HTeaO, the popular Texas-based iced tea franchise, is set to expand into Atascocita at 17622 W Lake Houston Pkwy, thanks to local educators-turned-entrepreneurs, John and Amanda McGee. The McGees, who have spent decades shaping the minds of students in the Humble and New Caney areas, are now shifting gears as first-time business owners under their newly formed LLC, Teas By McGee.

Amanda, a lifelong Atascocita resident and graduate of Humble High School, has built a successful career in science education, currently serving as Senior Vice President of Curriculum Development for an international company. John, a dedicated coach and teacher, currently teaches at New Caney High School. Their educational backgrounds have instilled a strong sense of community, and they are committed to making a difference beyond the classroom. “We know the importance of local business support for the schools in the area,” John explained. “We look forward to supporting the schools in the area with fundraising opportunities and student incentives..”
With franchise rights to all of Atascocita, the McGees are already planning for future expansions, envisioning the potential for multiple HTeaO locations. The couple has secured financing, will close on the lot in October, and has partnered with 20Twenty Construction to bring their dream to life.
As they embark on this exciting new chapter, the McGees are not just brewing tea, but also creating opportunities for their community. Their hope is that the success of their first location will pave the way for continued growth and community involvement, allowing them to positively impact Atascocita for years to come.
With Amanda’s roots deeply planted in the Atascocita community, and their shared commitment to education, the couple is eager to open the doors to their HTeaO location in September 2025 once official permitting is secured by March 2025.
