Hungry Howie’s will soon share its delicious flavored crust pizzas in more locations across the Greater Houston area. The latest addition to the pizza franchise is planned for 6940 Katy Gaston Rd., Ste. 100 in Katy.
Franchisee Chris Thompson with Pizza with a Purpose has existing Hungry Howie’s locations at Highland Knolls in Katy and another that opened in September at 1127 Eldridge Pkwy. in Houston’s Energy Corridor. Thompson told What Now Houston he plans to bring two more Hungry Howie’s locations to the Houston area and is currently scouting spaces.
Hungry Howie’s started in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan in the 1970s and now has more than 500 locations across the U.S. Thompson grew up in Michigan and was familiar with the Hungry Howie’s brand. “When I was looking to bring a franchise to Houston, I wanted to do something that wasn’t fully developed here,” Thompson explained. “That’s really what piqued my interest. It’s a great brand, a great product.”
Thompson founded Pizza with a Purpose several years ago. “We like to do things a little bit different. Our customer service is definitely at the forefront in what we do, and we also try to really change the workplace environment that a lot of restaurants are known for,” Thompson said. Because a lot of his employees are younger and possibly working their first jobs, he gives them an opportunity to work hard but have fun in the process.
The Hungry Howie’s menu features a variety of pizzas with multiple crust flavors to choose from including ranch, butter, and garlic herb, as well as oven-baked subs, salads, wings, and stuffed Howie Bread. The second Katy location for Hungry Howie’s could open in early 2023.
