Greg Jasper, partner with The Angry Elephant, told What Now Houston that he and his friend, Chip Ingram, both attended Texas A&M University. Jasper went into real estate, and Ingram continued working in the restaurant business. Ingram came up with The Angry Elephant concept just over a decade ago. Ingram opened the first location in San Antonio, and The Angry Elephant currently operates other locations in College Station and Bryan.

“All the décor we have is when the presidents were younger and some more candid photographs of them. We try not to make it too serious because politics are obviously very serious right now. Whatever we’ve done, it works because people love it,” Jasper said.

“We’re predominately a bar. Most of our locations are 21 and over after 3:00,” Jasper continued. All of the locations are open for lunch, so families can enjoy a gourmet hot dog, burgers, sandwiches, salads, wings, nachos, and more. “All of our items are named after something in politics.” Some politically-themed hot dogs include The FDR All American Dog, The George W. Bush BLT Dog, and The Bill Clinton Dirty Chili Cheese Dog.

The Angry Elephant motto is, “Like Your Politics, Love Your Bar,” and customers know the place for its “liberal cocktails at conservative prices.” The Angry Elephant website stated, “No matter your affiliation, we guarantee that you’ll find a drink and meal that you can pledge your allegiance to.”
