If you’re familiar with the colorful and fun creations of Voodoo Doughnut, you might be happy to know that a location could be opening in Katy. The new funky doughnut shop would be located at 1301 N. Fry Rd., according to state licensing information. The space would have to undergo some demolition, the replacement of existing storefronts, the addition of new interior finishes and lighting, and more.
Voodoo Doughnut is known for its late-night servings of innovative and unique sugary sweets. The shop offers raised yeast, cake, and specialty doughnuts. Guests can take a look at offerings on the spinning doughnut case found at Voodoo Doughnut locations.
Some options include the Bacon Maple Bar or the Voodoo Bubble, which is a doughnut with vanilla frosting, bubble gum dust, and a piece of bubble gum. The Voodoo Doll is filled with raspberry jelly and covered in chocolate frosting with a pretzel stake. The Memphis Mafia has fried dough with banana chunks and cinnamon, topped with glaze, chocolate chips, peanuts, and chocolate and peanut butter drizzle. Vegan options and made-to-order creations are also available.
Friends Kenneth “Cat Daddy” Pogson and Tres Shannon first opened Voodoo Doughnut in Portland back in 2003, according to the brand’s website. The doughnut shop has grown to include several locations across Oregon and in other states such as California, Colorado, and Florida.
Voodoo Doughnut currently has two locations in Houston and one in Cypress with one in Austin and another opening soon in San Antonio. There is no word on when the Katy location could open to the public.
