Phuong Dinh, who has dreamed of owning a pho restaurant for the past 20 years, brings a personal touch to Pho Nam. “At Pho Nam, we take great pride in our commitment to simplicity and quality. Our expertise lies in creating an exquisite pho broth that is carefully crafted using more than 50 pounds of beef bones. These bones are simmered for a full 24 hours, like mom used to make, allowing their deep flavors to permeate the broth,” Dinh shared. The dedication to quality extends beyond the broth, as an additional three hours are spent infusing it with a special blend of herbs and spices.

The restaurant’s name, Pho Nam, is a playful nod to Dinh’s son, Nam, and also reflects the Southern Vietnamese influence on the menu. This new concept is a first for Dinh and aims to stand out in the competitive pho market with its customer-centric approach. Patrons will order at the counter and watch as their meals are prepared right in front of them, ensuring a fresh and engaging dining experience. Vegan-friendly options are also available, catering to a wider range of dietary preferences.

One of the highlights on the menu is the Pho-Texan, a unique fusion of traditional pho with Texas BBQ. This dish features a smoky-flavored broth that promises to be a hit among locals. The menu is also peppered with playful names, adding an element of fun to the dining experience.

Looking to the future, Dinh has ambitious plans for Pho Nam. “Our vision is to become a recognized and respected pho restaurant, known for its exceptional food, excellent customer service, and commitment to creating memorable dining experiences,” he said. In the third year of operation, Dinh plans to open a second location, with additional expansions each year thereafter.

Future patrons can expect the grand opening sometime in November 2024.
