Regent Square, a prominent mixed-use development along Buffalo Bayou Park, is already home to popular spots like Georgia James steakhouse, Flight Club social darts emporium, and Flower & Cream ice cream boutique. De Fortune will be the first bar/lounge in the complex dedicated to the craft of mixology, drawing inspiration from world-renowned establishments such as The Clumsies in Athens and Atlas Bar in Singapore.

“We wanted to create something unique, upscale, and elegant on a level not seen in Houston nightlife,” said Mayur Desai, one of De Fortune’s four co-founders. Alongside Atik Mistry, Kinjal Desai, and Emish Patel, Desai brings a wealth of hospitality experience to this venture. The name De Fortune, meaning “makeshift” or “chance” in French, reflects the founders’ commitment to offering a dynamic and ever-evolving cocktail experience.

The partners have enlisted Unfiltered Hospitality from Miami to craft a beverage menu that boasts international appeal, while Houston’s Gin Design Group will shape the bar’s posh and moody interiors. The 1,614-square-foot space will focus on inventive cocktails, with limited snack options to complement the drinks. The concept began over casual cocktail discussions two years ago, culminating in a vision for a high-end lounge that offers a unique hospitality-first experience.

Desai shared that the MAKE Investments hospitality group, which De Fortune is a part of, aims to create a selective and elegant environment where guests can enjoy exceptional design, anticipatory service, and impressive cocktails. With twelve unique cocktails inspired by different regions around the world, De Fortune is set to offer a worldly experience that will keep patrons coming back for more.

As Houston eagerly awaits its opening, De Fortune promises to redefine the city’s nightlife with its blend of luxury, innovation, and global influences. Set to open in December 2024 or January 2025, De Fortune is poised to become a must-visit destination for both locals and visitors alike.
