Haraz Coffee House founder Hamzah Nasser told What Now Houston that Dearborn is a tourist destination, and a lot of his shop’s guests were from Texas metro areas such as Dallas, Houston, and Austin. “When they walked into our coffee shops, they were just like, ‘Wow, come open in Texas. You’ll do great in Texas.’” Nasser started researching and visiting larger Texas cities, recognized all of the development, and decided to be a part of it.

Haraz Coffee House serves Arabic-style coffee. “All of our coffee is 100% organic and imported from Yemen. Yemen is known for some of the best coffee beans in the world, and some people would even argue the origin of coffee itself,” said Adeel Khan, managing partner of the Sugar Land location.

Haraz Coffee House serves traditional lattes and coffees. “But we also specialize in something called Adeni tea,” Khan said. He described Adeni tea as a black tea infused with cardamom seeds that is cooked into a milk. “It has a very nice taste, very smooth.”

Guests will notice the smoothness, taste, and quality of the Haraz Coffee House drinks. “The Yemen coffee is a very strong coffee,” Khan said. “We feel that the market here will really enjoy it.”

Guests can order individually or glass pots of coffee or tea to share with family and friends. “We’re creating a setting where people want to be there,” Khan said. “It’s a very family-friendly setting, where you can come sit there after you have dinner and you enjoy that family setting.”

Specialty desserts will be offered including saffron milk cake, pistachio milk cake, and Honey Bee Bites, which look like honeycomb bread with pockets of cream cheese, black seeds, and sesame drizzled with organic honey.

They recently launched a barista academy in Michigan where people can learn how to make lattes on a date night or the perfect espresso during a night out with friends. The concept could open in Texas eventually.

Sugar Land will host the brand’s first Texas location. “Sugar Land is such a diverse place with people from all over the world, all different types of backgrounds. We feel that this type of product will do so well,” Khan said. “Everything’s bigger in Texas, and we figured this is going to be our biggest location so far.”

The new Haraz Coffee House will be in the Sprouts Farmers Market plaza in Sugar Land’s Telfair community at 13582 University Blvd., Ste. 100, Sugar Land, TX 77479. A North Texas location is also in being planned.
