Chick-fil-A at 5001 Beechnut St, a dining staple in the Meyerland Plaza since its opening in December 1999, is set for a significant transformation. Franchisee Jesse Chaluh has revealed plans to demolish the existing building and construct a larger, more modern facility on the same site. The decision comes after years of minor remodels and operational challenges that hindered the restaurant’s ability to meet growing customer demands efficiently.
The initiative to expand was born out of necessity. Despite a major remodel attempt in 2017, city regulations requiring additional land halted progress. The closure of 24 Hour Fitness in 2020 presented an opportunity when Fidelis Real Estate, owners of Meyerland Plaza, facilitated the acquisition of an additional half-acre. This expansion allows the project to finally move forward, accommodating the new design which includes increased parking, three drive-thru lanes—one exclusively for mobile orders—and a larger dining area suitable for community events. And due to many inquiries, a “kids play area” will be available as it previously was.
This redevelopment not only signifies a substantial investment in the community but also reflects Chick-fil-A’s commitment to adapting and evolving in response to the needs of its patrons. As Chaluh puts it, the demolition and rebuilding of the Meyerland Plaza Chick-fil-A is both a sentimental end and an exciting new beginning for the franchise and its loyal customers.
The process, which involved meticulous planning and multiple submissions for city permits, is slated to begin in early May 2024. Chaluh and his team have worked closely with architects to ensure that every aspect of the new design enhances customer experience and operational efficiency. The construction is expected to take seven months, during which time Chaluh encourages patrons to visit the nearby Chick-fil-A at Meyer Park, 9799 South Post Road, just a short drive from the current location.
