Atlanta-based vegan comfort food restaurant, Slutty Vegan, is expanding its horizons with a new location in the heart of downtown Houston, Texas. According to public records, the fast-growing vegan chain has secured a permit for a space located at 1701 Commerce St.
No official statement has been made by the company, however, the permit filed shows that the new location boasts a massive 8901 square feet, suggesting a major expansion for the beloved vegan food chain. This will be one of the largest locations for Slutty Vegan, indicating a strong vote of confidence in the potential of the Houston market.
Interesting enough, alongside the information in the permit, the name “Bar Vegan” was also noted, sparking speculation about a possible alcoholic beverage concept that could accompany the chain’s already popular vegan burgers and fries.
While the idea of Slutty Vegan moving into the alcoholic beverage space may come as a surprise, the company has always shown a willingness to innovate and to think outside the box. Slutty Vegan is well known for its unique approach to vegan cuisine, transforming the perception of veganism from a health-focused or ethical choice into a fun, flavor-filled, and mainstream food option. This is seen with their playful dish names like “One Night Stand” and “Menage a Trois.”
Slutty Vegan began its journey in 2018 with a food truck that rapidly gained popularity, leading to brick-and-mortar locations in Atlanta, Georgia. The brand has a commitment to serve vegan food that appeals to all, whether they follow a vegan diet or not, with a focus on serving “slutty” food that’s indulgently delicious.
The permit shows a January 2024 start date with a completion in April 2024 of the project.
