A new café in Cypress will feature well-known French dishes, as well as German fare. Mona’s French Café could open by early November if all goes according to plan.
Mona’s French Café owner Mona Blanquart is from Germany but lived for more than two decades in France. She is currently working to get her visa, and once that happens, she hopes to open her café to the public soon afterwards. “I had always had the goal to come to Houston. My husband loves Houston.”
Mona’s French Café will offer crepes, both savory and sweet, and croissants—almond, chocolate, and more. The menu will also feature quiche. “I will combine the French and the German dishes. Eighty-percent will be French, but also I will put some German, homemade dishes,” Blanquart told What Now Houston.
“We will also have French wine and of course beer because the Americans love beer. It always goes with a nice burger, which we will propose, as well.”
There will be several areas throughout the restaurant that will feature different décor. The “Paris Corner” will seat two people and offer a more romantic setting. “We also have a German area and also a French Riviera area, as well, from the South of France.” Another section will allow diners to grab a quick cup of coffee and a crepe.
Blanquart plans to open Mona’s French Café at 10:00 a.m. to offer a late breakfast, as well as lunch and dinner service. She has been working for several years to bring this concept to the Houston area. “We’re really excited.”
Mona’s French Café will be located at 15014 Spring Cypress Rd. in Cypress. Robin Moore with Proximity Commercial Advisors was a leasing agent on the transaction.
