When Houston and Macleod Adegoke decided to start a food trailer in 2022, they were setting the stage for something bigger than they imagined. Fast-forward a few months and the duo’s innovative venture, Orange Taco, is in the works to become a brick-and-mortar location at 1200 McKinney St #321.

Houston shared that the initial food trailer was experimental and an opportunity to “pilot and test the market.” The venture was an undeniable success. With demand for their mouth-watering Mexican/Asian fusion dishes skyrocketing, they made the decision to transition to a permanent location.

The Adegoke duo’s passion for culinary innovation is evident in Orange Taco’s unique offerings. “Most of our menu is made from scratch,” Houston said, “with fresh ingredients and homemade sauces.” Some fan favorites include ginger fried rice and the edgy veggie taco, a delectable vegan option. The standout, however, is the orange brisket taco, a nod to the citrus inspiration behind the brand’s name.

Orange Taco’s journey began in November 2022, but its heart started beating much earlier. The recipes were being created and tested two years prior. And the couple’s love of citrus, including orange as a standout, inspired the creative name for the brand and helped bring to life their many flavorful offerings.

With the move to a permanent establishment, Houston promises some new additions to the menu. Apart from the regular menu, they’re introducing a coffee selection. And in their pursuit to offer more homemade items, they’ll be producing their own tortillas from scratch. “We’re also working on offering beer and margaritas,” Houston hinted. Morning enthusiasts will be pleased to hear that breakfast will now be on the menu, with elegant selections like a poached egg, hollandaise sauce, and brisket taco topped with green onions, which happens to be Houston’s personal favorite.

Orange Taco’s website is currently under construction along with their Facebook and Instagram socials. And the food trailer is closed so the focus can be placed on the renovations of the new space. The grand opening, however, looks to be set for “mid-January 2024 as long as all goes to plan.”
