At the helm of Sophie is partner and tastemaker Ashley Muncie, who brings a wealth of experience from over a decade in the hospitality industry, including time spent in Paris working with notable fashion brands. Muncie’s vision for Sophie is deeply influenced by her travels and passion for French culture, aiming to deliver a unique and enchanting experience to her guests.

Sophie Cocktail & Terrace Bar will feature two distinct concepts. Downstairs at Sophie is an intimate 20-seat cocktail bar characterized by its aristocrat-meets-artist ambiance. The interior, designed by international branding and design firm EAMStudio under the direction of Creative Director Emilia Menocal, boasts dramatic dark red lacquered walls, mirrored ceilings, and opulent velvet club chairs. The space is adorned with bold and colorful paintings by Biarritz-based French artist Philippine de Richemont, creating a vibrant homage to the artistic heritage of the South of France.

Upstairs, the expansive 2,000-square-foot open-air terrace offers a transportive experience reminiscent of the French Riviera. With lush greenery, seating for up to 80 guests, and prime views of Montrose, the terrace is set to become a favorite spot for leisurely afternoons and chic evening gatherings. The decor incorporates natural elements and a palette of soft white, beige, and coral, providing a serene yet stylish backdrop for guests.

The culinary program at Sophie is led by Chef de Cuisine Anthony Anderson, whose impressive resume includes stints at Uchi, Uchiko, and Nobie’s. Anderson, who secured his position after a standout tasting for the owners, is excited to step into his first head chef role. His menu features French-inspired dishes such as Thon Cru with marinated yellowfin tuna and saffron potato, and the Sophie Burger, a French-styled upscale twist on the classic burger. The dessert menu, highlighted by The Swan, a pistachio cake with raspberry confit, promises to delight.

The bar menu at Sophie is equally impressive, featuring signature cocktails like The King’s Lover, made with roasted barley brioche Kettle One Vodka, and Mademoiselle Sophie, a refreshing blend of Hendricks Flora Adora and Chambord. The terrace will offer a seasonal spritz menu, while the downstairs bar focuses on experiential cocktails.

“We are incredibly excited to open Sophie Cocktail & Terrace Bar and offer our guests an unforgettable experience in an inviting, beautiful space,” said Ashley Muncie. “Sophie is a destination to gather with friends for a long afternoon of cocktails and bites on the terrace, a post-dinner nightcap, and everything in between.”

Sophie Cocktail & Terrace Bar will be open seven days a week from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., with happy hour Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and weekend brunch on Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 4:00 p.m. Stay updated on the latest news by following @sophiehoutx on Instagram or signing up for the Sophie newsletter at sophiehtx.com.
