The Spot will take over the former location of Tight Ends Sports Bar and Grill. The more than 9,000-square-foot space will undergo renovations and include indoor dining. According to a post on The Spot’s Facebook page, it will also include a patio.

Nearly everything on The Spot menu is made from scratch each day including hand-dipped onion rings. The menu includes locally-sourced seafood, burgers, salads, and beachfront tacos. Handspun milkshakes and malts are also available for a sweet treat.

The family-friendly restaurant first opened in 1998. In 2002, Dennis Byrd, who was born on the island and had worked at the restaurant in several capacities, purchased the restaurant. The Spot in Galveston has grown over the years to include four other concepts—Tiki Bar, Squeeze Ritas & Tequilas, RumShack, and SideYard—all offering fare from The Spot menu.
