Fast-growing chain, Urban Bird Hot Chicken, is finding its next home at Cypress Village Station, 25250 Northwest Fwy, Cypress, TX 77429.
Owner Brandon Gawthorp was visiting Vegas in 2018 and came across a hot chicken sandwich that began him on a path he wasn’t expecting. His return to Houston put him on a search for a similar flavor leading him to just one busy food truck. Gawthorp was a franchisee of a pizza restaurant that soon went out of business. He held the space in search of his next move before a nearby space owned by the same landlord opened up driving him to a switch of location and brand in 2020.
The inspired Vegas sandwich led him down a path to create his own and bring it to The Bayou City. With nine months of hard work and sixty experiments to perfect the recipe, Urban Bird Hot Chicken was born in September 2020. Gawthorp is building out his hot chicken empire with seven locations currently open and seven more under construction. Plans for further expansion outside of Texas will occur once he’s reached twenty outposts.
Urban Bird’s menu offers various chicken items with six heat level options, a plethora of sides and extras to choose from, a kids menu, and a “Bird Pack” if you’ll be feeding a group. You can order online if you prefer and they offer catering services as well.
The Cypress location will be 2100 square feet with plans to open in approximately four months.
