In a bold move that underscores the dynamic growth trajectory of one of the fastest-growing Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) concepts, Smalls Sliders announced an ambitious expansion plan that sees seven new units slated to open across Texas. 806 W Montgomery St, Willis, TX 77378 has been permitted and is in the works as part of the brand’s growth strategy. This strategic initiative marks the brand’s second foray into the Texan market, bolstering its development pipeline in the state to a total of 12 units. At the heart of this expansion are Preston Cunningham and David Higgins, seasoned entrepreneurs who discovered a shared passion for the brand’s innovative approach during their collaboration on projects for another notable restaurant brand in the Houston area.

The duo’s commitment to Smalls Sliders springs from their admiration for the brand’s unique operational model, which combines a compact menu and minimalistic design with the novel concept of Cans – prefabricated units that are delivered and set up on-site. This operational model not only facilitates rapid expansion but also epitomizes the brand’s ethos of simplicity and innovation. “We were particularly interested in the unique design and construction of each Smalls Sliders location,” said Higgins. “Aside from that, we also loved the idea of a concept that is based in simplicity. A small menu, small buildout and Cans that are dropped on-site – all of it culminates into a brand that is unlike anything out there.” Their enthusiasm for the brand is matched by their ambition to kickstart the development of their locations, targeting territories such as Woodlands, Conroe, Huntsville, and Bryan College Station.

The expansion into Texas is not just a business venture for Cunningham and Higgins; it’s a mission to forge lasting bonds within the communities they serve. Beyond serving delicious cheeseburger sliders, the pair aims to engage in charitable initiatives, particularly with local high schools, to foster community ties. Their vision aligns with the broader goals of Smalls Sliders, which has been rapidly scaling since its inception in 2019. Under the leadership of Maria Rivera, CEO, and the guidance of founders including NFL quarterback Drew Brees, Smalls Sliders has grown from a single Louisiana outlet to a burgeoning franchise with over 80 locations in development, earning accolades from QSRmagazine, Nation’s Restaurant News, and Entrepreneur magazine.

As Smalls Sliders continues to expand its footprint, the brand’s dedication to quality, innovation, and community engagement remains at the forefront. With industry veterans like Cunningham and Higgins leading the charge in Texas, the future looks promising for this pioneering QSR concept. As they prepare to open their doors in Texas, Smalls Sliders not only aims to captivate the palates of burger enthusiasts but also to become an integral part of the fabric of each community they touch. The Willis location is set for an early-August 2024 opening, with another Houston Metro “Can” planning to open shortly after in October 2024.
