Southern Scoops LLC is proud to announce the arrival of Abbott’s Frozen Custard in Atascocita, TX, with a planned location off of W. Lake Houston Pkwy. Although the exact address has yet to be determined, the company’s dedication to the area is clear.
In an exclusive interview, Barry Barron, CEO and Equity Partner of Southern Scoops LLC, shared his excitement and ambitious plans for the brand in Texas. A native Texan, Barron’s experience in the hospitality industry spans many years, touching 48 states and 11 countries.
However, this venture marks Barron’s first time working with Abbott’s. “I’m just so excited about this opportunity. We are focusing on Texas currently, but hope to grow beyond the State,” Barron told What Now Houston. The entire state of Texas has been franchised by Southern Scoops LLC for up to 100 locations, with Houston being one of the first along with the other primary markets of focus: Dallas/Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Austin.
Abbott’s Frozen Custard, a family-owned 120-year-old brand, has a rich history that resonates with Barron. “The product has been through so much in history and continues to be strong,” he noted, emphasizing the incredible heritage and potential growth opportunities within the company. The frozen custard shop boasts of only using the freshest ingredients along with only churning small batches. “Made Fresh Just for You!” — as stated on their website.
Barron’s excitement for Abbott’s is not a coincidence. His decision was backed by extensive research and consideration of other brands. Yet, Abbott’s stood out as a unique opportunity. The synergy between Barron’s and his partners’ combined experience promises to serve the brand well in its Texan expansion.
The Houston location is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2024, neck and neck with another location in McKinney within the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
