“We’re going to be opening up a BBQ and blues restaurant in Sugar Land Town Square,” restaurant owner Kennis Williams told What Now Houston. “On Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday brunches we’ll have live blues entertainment.”

Williams Smoke House BBQ and Blues will be located in the former Stadia Grill location, a 5,500 sq ft space directly across from P.F. Chang’s. According to Williams, the space will be renovated for the new restaurant. “We’re going to gut it completely and come back in with everything brand-new,” he said.

Foodies can expect a mix of surprising new menu items alongside old school favorites. “The menu is traditional BBQ with quite a few specialty items you would not normally find on a BBQ menu,” Williams said. “We have smoked ox tail, we have a stuffed turkey leg—one stuffed with dirty rice and then it’s got a shrimp and sausage alfredo sauce on top, and I’ve got one stuffed with bacon mac & cheese— we have some brisket egg rolls, we also have some brisket empanadas. And then we make our own sausage, so we make our homemade armadillo eggs as well.”

Additioanlly, the smoke house will serve pork ribs, beef ribs, large dino ribs, chicken, sausage, turkey breasts, and pulled pork.

But the food is only part of the allure of this new venture. Williams also has a passion for music, specifically the blues. He and his partner, Furrest Greenwood, are already looking for bands to perform at Williams Smoke House.

“We’ve actually been checking out a lot of talent around Houston. We’ve got quite a few bands that we really liked and took a look at,” Williams said. “But I’ve also got a good buddy of mine, Mike Erskine, with Erskine Entertainment, and he does a lot of bookings between here and Austin, so we’ll have a little help.”

BBQ and blues fans can expect both the pit and the guitars to start smokin’ things up in Sugar Land Town Square in August 2022.
